What it’s for

How it works

1. Pick the channel

   Where the birthday message will be posted. Until a channel is picked, nothing goes out.

2. Write the message

   The text posted on the day. Leave it empty and the bot uses its own message.

3. Members save their date

   Each member types /birthday with their day and month. It’s up to them, just once.

4. The bot does the wishing

   On the day, the message goes out in the channel, and the birthday role is given if you picked one.

Settings

Announcement channel

Where the bot posts the birthday message. It’s the only required setting: without it, the module posts nothing.

Birthday message

The text posted on the day. Write {user} where you want to mention the member. Left empty, the bot uses its own message, in your server’s language.

Birthday role (optional)

A role given to the member on their birthday. Leave it on No role if you don’t want one.

What your members see

• /birthday day month

  The member saves their date. The reply is visible only to them. Running it again simply replaces the date.

• /birthday-remove

  The member removes their date. They won’t be announced anymore.

Good to know

• The bot doesn’t guess dates: until a member has typed /birthday, there’s nothing to announce. Mention it in an announcement channel.

• The birthday role is given automatically, and the bot takes it back the next day. Nothing to remove by hand.

• The bot checks birthdays once an hour. The message won’t arrive exactly at midnight, but within the following hour.
